Rhinoplasty, also known as a “nose job” is one of the most popular plastic surgery procedures. As the nose is the most defining part of the face, even a little change can dramatically change your appearance and instantly boost your confidence.
THE SURGERY
THE PROCESS
Ultrasonic rhinoplasty surgery is performed under general anaesthetic and takes about two hours. Ultrasonic rhinoplasty surgery has an “open” approach; the surgeon uses a tiny 3mm incision that will be barely visible a month after the procedure. During surgery, Dr di Mauro will work to reshape the nose with instruments that vibrate at an ultra-high frequency to sculpt bone and file it to shape.
After the surgery you can return home, but the nose will be bandaged. With ultrasonic rhinoplasty swelling may occur for a week or two but patients can normally go back to normal less than a week after the surgery. You can expect less bruising and swelling when compared to a traditional rhinoplasty procedure.

Ultrasonic rhinoplasty is the latest technology to reshape the nose more precisely, with less trauma and a reduced recovery time. THE PROCESS
THE CONSULTATION
In the first appointment, the surgeon will learn the aesthetic goals of the patient and determine whether an open or closed rhinoplasty can correct or enhance the nose. The risks and benefits of the operation will be fully discussed.
THE SURGERY
The surgery is performed under general anaesthetic and usually takes 2 hours. During the operation, the surgeon makes cuts within the nostrils or across the base of the nose, reshaping the inner bone and cartilage to achieve the aesthetic goals.
POST SURGERY RECOVERY
The nose will be bandaged and may also be held in place by a splint for 5-10 days while the new form sets. Swelling is normal and patients feel better within 7-14 days, though it can take up to a year for the nose to finally settle into its new shape.

ULTRASONIC RHINOPLASTY RECOVERY
After your ultrasonic rhinoplasty you will leave the clinic with bandage on your nose to protect the healing process. You can expect some swelling and bruising around the nose and eyes, but this should improve quickly with the ultrasonic method of surgery, as there is less damage to tissue. Swelling should disappear after the first few days and patients typically go back to work and normal life less than a week after surgery. The final results of your nose job will be obvious a month or two post-surgery. Dr di Mauro will book appointments with you to check on your recovery.
