During the Covid-19 crisis we’ve continued to received many enquiries about cosmetic injectables or ‘fillers’ as they are more commonly known. So, we thought that it would be useful to provide some information about these increasingly popular anti-wrinkle and dermal filler treatments.

As the name suggests, dermal fillers smooth the skin by filling in wrinkles to correct the signs of aging, whereas Botox is a neurotoxin that blocks communication between the muscle and nerve. The most well-known brands of fillers used for lip fillers are Restylane and Juvéderm, both are acid based hyaluronic fillers. They are made of substances similar to those found naturally found in the body, and therefore non-allergenic, have the ability to attract and retain fluid and stimulate collagen.

The results are instantaneous but it can take up to one month to really settle in.  The effects of the surgery are temporary as the injectable will be absorbed into the body.

In an earlier blog “7 popular questions about lip fillers answered” we touched how the desire for plumped up lips is on the rise due to Instagram and influencers such as the ubiquitous Kylie Jenner.

By using hyaluronic fillers to achieve Kylie’s full heavy pout or even just a slightly plumper lip, the natural water in the area is corralled into position to produce the desired natural yet fuller look.  The results are instant and can last up to 18 months and that once a little swelling subsides the lips shouldn’t feel any different when administered by a professional such as Dr. Di Mauro.

In addition to lip fillers, hyaluronic fillers can correct wrinkles and grooves such as nasolabial folds and shrinking lips caused by smoking or just natural gaining. It also regularly used to remodel areas of the face that have lost bone depth or require enhancement via contouring, including cheekbones and jaws. Indented scarring from acne and chicken pox can also be improved by this type of procedure.

There are also synthetic fillers that are not in any way similar to the body’s natural substances, which tend to last much longer.

The dermal filler surgery requires extreme close proximity to a client therefore all dermal filler surgeries were on hold throughout the crisis, but the good news is that now that clinics are opening again in Spain, it is now possible to make an appointment for lip fillers in Marbella.

Slowing down the signs of aging using anti-wrinkle injections is now so widespread that for many people it is considered to be just another part of their grooming, make up and general maintenance routine. Thanks to anti-wrinkle injections, such as Botox (Botulim Toxin Type A), it is possible to erase those small tell-tale signs like crow’s feet and fine lines around the eyes and forehead, to achieve a subtle more alert visage.

We’ve all heard of Botox parties and there are many other types of providers, however it’s important to understand that although the process is minimally invasive it is still a surgical procedure which should be administered by a professional with extensive experience of facial aesthetics.

The injections work be directing small doses of Botox into the desired areas to freeze the muscle resulting in a more relaxed, fresh and totally natural look. It takes around 15 minutes to complete the process and results can be seen as early as three days to a couple of weeks and will last for up to 3 months.
